DISURBANITY NOW - THE BLOG
Dear friends and clients, it´s a hot summer in Berlin and there´s fresh new portfolios to check out. First: Be dearly invited to visit my Blog, entitled DISTURBANITY NOW. I needed a long time to finally come up with this name =)! Europes first Urban Art Fair STROKE will open its doors this thursday, the 27th of May. My work will be represented at the booths of BOX32 GALLERY from Berlin, and as well at CASTLE MAGAZINE from Munich. Don´t miss this great chance to drop by and say hello! =)

CONCRETE PLAYGROUND - EXHIBITION OPENING IN ESSEN
Werte Interessierte, liebe Leute, das Ruhrgebiet ist Kulturhauptstadt 2010 – und ich lade Euch in diesem Rahmen herzlich zur Gruppenausstellung CONCRETE PLAYGROUND ein, um einige brandneue Werke in disturbaner Manier zu präsentieren. Die Ausstellung findet in Essen, in der Zeche Zollverein statt - alle genauen Infos entnehmt Ihr einfach der Website der Veranstalter.
Es gib sicherlich einiges zu entdecken, unter anderem auch Arbeiten von Martha Cooper, der legendären Graffiti-Fotografin aus NYC, sowie von SHOE, dem ebenso den Eingeweihten wohlvertrauten Amsterdamer Oldschooler.

DISTURBANITY AT ARTYFARTY GALLERY COLOGNE
In the upcoming groupshow OVERSIZED & UNDERPRICED, the HATCH STICKER MUSEUM of Berlin is showing new works from urban artists. The show has moved to Cologne now, where it is hosted by ARTYFARTY, a new artspace specialised on contemporary and urban sujets. All artworks presented in the group show were meant to be based on the german postal sticker, which has become a classic street sticker-format. As i like to be different, i chosed to include elements of the original post sticker as a reference, but changed the format a little bit =). The outcome is a deadly colorful square, printed on canvas in 70x70 format. Take a look at the actual artwork in the new works section.

ACTUAL EXHIBITION AT GALLERY BOX 32 // GALLERY MURAL
For the anniversary of Berlins first gallery for contemporary fine art canvas prints, BOX 32, i designed a flyer and painted the storefront in Boxhagener street no. 33. Painting was very nice, especially as it was ice cold plus stormy - and i finished very close to the deadline =). The vernissage at the at sixth of march was also the opening party of the great new location. The actual exhibition is a group show, where you can also find some of my latest photocollage works (more memories from unseen places) and new photo works relating to my title motiv for DBL magazine. DISTURBANITY AT STROKE.02 IN MUNICH
I will be exhibiting at the urban art fair STROKE.02 in Munich at the end of may. Works of me and my brother Felix Gephart are going to be presented by gallery BOX32 from Berlin and i will as well show new stuff at the booth of Castle Magazine from Munich. DISTURBANITY RECORD SLEEVES PRESENTED BY INDEX BOOK
My works for several Hardcore-, Punk- and Gothic Rock bands has now been selected for presentation in the upcoming book BASIC PACK by well known graphic design and art book publishers INDEX BOOK from Barcelona. For this publication i had the physical LP and CD sleeves photographed in a studio - in this way they will also be shown on the new DISTURBANITY website. BIKE GRAPHICS FOR BMX-COMPANY WETHEPEOPLE
I have the pleasure to announce my cooperation with Cologne-based and internationally very well reputated BMX-company WETHEPEOPLE. I designed the decals (sticker set) for their brand new VERSUS-bike and we are working on a series of T-shirts as well. Therefore i created a HC/Comic/Graff-related WTP logo and some new WETHEPEOPLE styles, which you can now check out in in the NEW WORKS section.

TITLE FOR DBL MAGAZINE / PRINT EDITION OF COVER MOTIV
Down by Law again - i also had the pleasure to have been asked about creating a cover for the upcoming DBL issue. I spend an unusual amount of time for this work, as i wanted to avoud any »just another graff mag cover« impression. I usually do not combine my photography and handmade type in the way i did here... but in this case ithe process felt like a mission =). I hope you like the result as much as i do: the title arwork is now online in my NEW WORK section - check it out! Following some requests, i will offer the original cover shot motiv as a fine art print in march. By then i hope to have the new Disturbanity website allready online - otherwise all infos needed will be posted here.

MARCH: DISTURBANITY INTERVIEW IN GOTHIC LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE
As far as i know, it is rather uncommon to be presented in a Graffiti/Urban Art-magazine and in an »Underground Culture« /gothic-magazine at the same time. So, i`m even more enjoying this upcoming situation. Are there any readers out there, that will enjoy both publications? i certainly will! =) For issue no. 4, the people from Gothic Lifestyle have asked me some questions about this very topic: what, seen from my perspective, divides the (sub-)cultures and what unites them... i think i tried to explain that Disturbanity is meant be a step towards more understanding and fusion: a good way for all of us =). WINNER AT CRATIVE QUARTERLY MAGAZINE, NEW YORK
I am pleased to announce that i am one of the winners, whose entries for Creative Quarterly Vol. 18 have now been chosen by the show judges of this New York-based journal of art & design. In the category Fine Art: Professional, my Power of Love wall painting has been elected and will be presented in the magazine`s next issue, which will hit the newsstands in April 2010. So, what do we learn here? Graffiti - it´s fine art! No limits! Got me? =)

ILLUSTRATION FOR »ART« MAGAZINE
An unusual request by a special publication reached me in november: ART magazine asked me to illustrate an article on the topic of UTOPIA for their next issue. Unusual job, as this magazine is specialised in reporting on the art scene and the art market, they don`t work with illustrators. The topic was very interesting and i had three double pages of space to develop an utopian landscape filled with quotes, hopes and visions. This issue should be in the newsstands from the 18th of december on!

DISTURBANITY IN »EINZIGARTIG« FONTS CALENDAR 2010
Typography & graphic design magazine SLANTED has published a calendar with black and white ilustrated fontnames, a collaboration with FREISTIL and a whole lot of different artists. The calendar features solely one graffiti-sketch-based artwork (who could have created the one? =)) and can be purchased via Freistil online. The format is A5 and all pages (each week has one page) are postcards, that you can take out and to somebody you want to impress with your knowledge of fancy design

PYROMANIAC CLOTHING IN STREETWEAR TODAY MAGAZINE
Streetwear Today magazine features a report on mine and Toasts series for Pyromaniac clothing in their actual issue (No. 30, 2009). I liked especially the text about the »good fella and oldschool writer who dived into graphic design« and the clothing, which »shows his weird collage style and even a bit of his mean punky graffiti related attitude«. Yeah, hahahaha, what can i add? Nice one! =)

BRAND NEW DISTURBANITY FOR 2010
I am happy to announce that, for the fourth time since 2003, the Disturbanity.com portal will face the world with a new look - and vice versa. I decided to pay reference to changing constellations in the content of my portfolio, to new works and new clients. As for the shown artwork, the new site will present a larger picture format, and a faster access to works and sections. Instead of mainly showcasing the graphics and illustration files, i will show more of the final products. SUPABOND - NEW RECORD ARTWORK
Notorious early 80ties style punkband SUPABOND from Düsseldorf have got in touch with me again. As we have been working together from their first 7inch release on, i`m glad to design their second full length album as well. I allready heard some songs - and i was, even more than before, amazed by the pure raw punk power in balance with the great vocals of female singer Suse von Bond. No kidding here: this is the real deal!

1.0000 VOTES MORE FOR THE GREEN PARTY
The german election has passed - and the Green party gained 10,7 %, that is more than ever before in the history of the party. Unfortunately, there are some other big changes in german politics - so in the end the Greens did not reach their goal to put an end to the predominance of the conservatives. They simply could not make up for the huge losses of the Social Democrats Party. You can find some of my works for the Green campaign in the poster section.

ARTWORK FOR BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN - ONLINE NOW!
Check my original artworks created for the actual campaign of the german GREEN PARTY in the New Works section. Zum Goldenen Hirschen, the german advertisement agency best known from their work for Amnesty International or Medicins sans Frontieres, had in June contacted me for illustrating some of their posters for BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN. The next election in Germany will be held at the 27th of September. Unfortunately we don`t have any politician, who would dare to seriously claim a slogan like »Yes, we can!«, but propably some visual reference towards »street culture« might help the Green Party more than it would do for the conservatives =).

POWER OF LOVE / THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY MURAL
Eight days of nothing but painting, except of sleeping and some food from time to time: that was my trip to Duisburg in June. It is 20 years ago now that i picked up my first spray can, so i wanted to celebrate this anniversary the way i like it! The original sketch has been shown before on Disturbanity.com: it`s the POWER OF LOVE-style that was allready printed on canvas for the Sticker Show in Berlin. I did not expect at all to ever find a place that would fit so perfect for the needs of this compact draft - until the organisators of the Graffiti art event at Rheinpark Duisburg offered a wall to me, which just perfectly matched with my wishes. PAGAN LOVE SONGS VOL. 2 - BRAND NEW CD ARTWORK ONLINE NOW
It was in the year 2004, that i designed the first Pagan Love Songs Compilation, which the Thyssen Brothers, inventors of Germany`s internationally reputated ColdWave/Goth/Deathrock party event PAGAN LOVE SONGS, had brought to life to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their famous dark culture child. Believe it or not - another five years have passed by and once again i had the honour to illustrate, photograph and layout the artwork for the new anniversary compilation. Once again, the release date will be celebrated with two days of concerts and party, hosted at ZWISCHENFALL Club Bochum, on the 28th and 29th of August 2009. DISTURBAN SUMMER NEWSFLASH / ACTUAL GRAFFITI ROCK
Due to a truely challenging amount of illustration work i had to manage, i am a little bit late on my updates this time - well, there could be much worse reasons, right? =) Yeah, that`s just what i think too. This weeks beginning i just finished a job that has to stay a secret for a few more weeks... and now i have the pleasure to be invited to Duisburg, a city in the Ruhr region, west of Germany, where me and some other Graffiti artists are working on the artistic redesign of a park that is placed on a former industrial area. US LABEL ROME SNOWBOARDS: NEW ARTWORK SERIES
ROME Snowboards from Vermont have once again asked me to create a complete series of Board Illustrations - of course i got on board again! Designing seven new board graphics plus a base design in pure Disturbanity Style is definitly a challenging task as much as it is pure enjoyment for me. Besides that: they are nice folks to work with - while working in his studio, their art director is listening to old songs of legendary NYHC-band Cro-Mags just like i do =).

MOURNING FOR TOMORROW - NEW RECORD ARTWORK FOR GERMAN HARDCORE BAND
MOURNING FOR TOMORROW, the germany-based spheric HC band, have asked me to design the artwork for their long-awaited and finally recorded output entitled »Deine Huelle, Deine Haut«. This job is an honour to me.
MOURNING FOR TOMORROW’s unique musical mix of dark slow motion Endzeit-Hardcore and trance-like magic required an asthetic approach suiting both sound and lyrical content. Not only that i received a long written concept about the background of the title - i also had to find a solution for the bands idea of having the front cover artwork being one piece of a poster measuring the size of six cd-formats - which they wanted to use instead of an ordinary booklet inlay. This poster/cover design has been finished now - you can allready get an accoustic and visual impression on the bands myspace. You can also have a look at the Poster/Cover artwork in my NEW WORK section. The complete design will be presented on Disturbanity.com as soon as the record is released.

Charles Hively, Publisher and design director of New York-based international illustration magazine 3x3 has invited me to join their special issue, dedicated to a chosen group of artists from the upcoming FREISTIL 3-publication.
Well, this sounds complicated? Sorry for causing confusion - it’s not that complicated =) : Charles has been part of the jury editing the contributors of FREISTL - and it made him think about presenting some of these European illustrators to an even bigger international audience - in the printed and digital realm of 3x3 magazine. PYROMANIAC CLOTHING - DISTURBANITY EDITION 2009
In summer 2008 Heidelberg-based streetwear label PYROMANIAC had asked me to create their artist line for spring/summer 2009. It was a nice collaboration with the greatest artistic freedom possible: just the kind of work that requires pure passion, the way i like it =). The outcomes will be presented on several fashion fairs in 2009, among others at MAGIC tradeshow in Las Vegas.

THE POWER OF LOVE, BERLIN, AFGHANISTAN
Among the first sold pieces in the benefit exhibition at HATCH, Berlin, was my collaboration piece with spanish graphic designer and illustrator Alba Pardo: The Power of Love. Alba Pardo recently not only boosted the Disturbanity studio power, so you don`t need to guess about the meaning of the artwork's title.
The illustration, which finally ended up as a 70 cm x 75 cm sized print on canvas, can now be appraised in the New Works section, in its different stages from sketch to vector illustration, for those who might be interested in the process.
If you did not so far, check the info about the Kabul Skateboarding School and the Sticker Museum Berlin. Due to the success of the exhibition, our printed artwork can be seen there until the 14th of January.

DYSTOPIA, MILAN
We spent last week in Milan, Italy, to attend the vernissage of DYSTOPIA, curated by Alessandro Neckeis for Studio Iroko. Among others, some of my recent photomontage illustrations were presented. Besides the exhibition: Funny and warm hearted people and definitly an interesting city full of fantastic architecture = a place worth to visit.

CHARITY STICKER EXHIBITION IN BERLIN
OVERSIZED AND UNDERPRICED ist the title of a charity exhibition for the skateboard school in Kabul, Afghanistan (http://skateistan.org/). Grey Hamburg approached me for creating some multicoloured flower-filled paint-splash explosions for the models of Karstadts next spring-fashion to walk within. COVER ARTWORK / PORTRAIT IN CASTLE MAGAZINE
The publisher of excellent german illustration magazine CASTLE asked me to create the title for his latest PDF issue. EXHIBITION AT ART RMX FESTVAL COLOGNE IN AUGUST
I´m happy to announce i was chosen for participation in the Contemporary Art Festival ART RMX COLOGNE, which will take place from the 22. to the 31. of August in - of course: Cologne. GLOBAL GENERATION - CURRENT EXHIBITION IN FREIBURG
From June 6th until July 5th two of my paintings are installed as part of the exhibition Global Generation in the city of Freiburg. Global Generation, a project by the Freiburg-based culture-collective Artoholics, presents a flat-sharing community of international artists living together for one month, hopefully characterised by the creative clash of identities from all continents. POISONED POSTCARDS
I worked on my photographic series Poisoned Postcards, which introduces you to locations, where you might not feel comfortable and secure, but are stangely attracted at the same time... mysterious places that will remind you of your last promise to send a postcard. I`ve been approached by a Berlin based gallery to produce an edition of digital prints on canvas to show this series in large format - we`re working on it. Wir möchten Euch hiermit zum Blanket Benefit 2008 am kommenden Sonntag in Düsseldorf einladen.
Für die Kunst-Charity Blanket Benefit verteilten Nina Bienefeld von der Streetart-Reihe „Ninasagt“ und Uwe Hasenfuß vom Kreativbüro „Labor West“ graue Wolldecken, wie sie normalerweise an Obdachlose ausgegeben werden, an verschiedene Künstler mit der Bitte, diese zu gestalten.
Etablierte Künstler wie Mischa Kuball, Tom Lemke, Jim Avignon oder Tobias Rehberger sowie junge Kreative wie JayBo (Monk), Paul Snowden oder Disturbanity begeisterten sich für die Idee und steuern Werke bei. Die gestalteten Decken werden am kommenden Sonntag bei Kaffee und Kuchen präsentiert und nach Gebot zwischen 15.30 und 17 Uhr veräußert. Jeder ist eingeladen, eines dieser Einzelstücke zu ersteigern – also vergesst die prall gefüllte Geldbörse nicht. Es ist schließlich für den guten Zweck: Die Erlöse gehen zu 100 % an die Diakonie-Einrichtung „An der Icklack“, die wohnungslosen Frauen in Düsseldorf bei der beruflichen und sozialen Wiedereingliederung hilft. Die Diakonie Düsseldorf mit ihrem Vorstand Thorsten Nolting übernimmt die Schirmherrschaft der Aktion und die Kaufabwicklung der Künstler-Decken.

DISTURBANITY: EXHIBITION IN BERLIN-19th of January
I was asked to exhibit my work at Dermot-O‘Dyna, the Berlin-and Los Angeles-based haidressers shop in Berlin Mitte. They use to regularly show artists of different backgrounds, and it`s a nice location, so i did not hesitate to create some new works for this occasion. The vernissage takes place at saturday, the 19th of Januar 2008, doors opening at 21h. The adress is Torstrasse 147, close to the U8 subway station Rosenthaler Platz. Be dearly invited.

DISTURBAN PHOTOGRAPHY - USA SERIES STARTING
I`m happy i finally found some time to edit my latest photographic works - enter the photography section and have a look at the first disturban impressions from my recent journey to the United States. The series is entitled Poisoned Postcards... and you will find out why.

IDN MAGAZINE: THE UNIVERSE CHAPTER
I was invited to take part in the current design contest of IDN magazine, related to the topic »Universe«... I focused on my own universal spirit vibe with an x-rated lyrical approach connected to a complex graff-style. You only MIGHT be able to read the style - may be you`re not, but still you can understand =). You can check all the contest submissions at IDN website. My UNIVERSAL SPIRIT design has been set into the new works section.
IMPACT RECORDS: NEUE KLÄNGE / KONTAKT46
Notorious german punkrock company Impact records have just published a new compilation with fresh songs of early 80ties style german punkbands. My band Kontakt46 is one of the contributors to this magnificent collection of in-your-face-tunes. I designed our page in the booklet of »Neue Klänge für die Endzeit«.

ILLUSTRATION FOR THE CASEROOM PRESS
Independent art and poetry book publishers The Caseroom Press approached me to illustrate a story for their upcoming collection of modern fairytales, entitled Utopian Tales. It`s a story of Heinrich Schulz, first published in 1924, and tells about a bee and an engine having a conversation in a quiet factory while the workers are on strike. ARTWORK FOR »SOUND IN PRINT«
U.K. Getty Images art director Chris Ashworth has invited me to contribute to the art project SOUND IN PRINT, where well known designers from all over the world are asked to illustrate a song of their personal choice in one picture. Chris Ashworth has published some very interesting works on contemporary design in the past, including »Out of Control«, the book about RayGun culture. SOUND IN PRINT will be shown as an exhibition and as well in form of a book. The song i chose is »Selbstumdrehung« from the new album of classic german dark punk band EA80.
